U.S. citizens and permanent residents (greencard holders) do not need an eTA to visit Canada. Just about everyone else must have a visa or an eTA to fly into or transit through a Canadian airport, (though not necessarily cruise ship passengers).
Applying for a Canadian eTA is a simple online process that takes just a few minutes to complete.
To apply, you will need:
- Valid passport
- Email address
- Credit card - An eTA costs CAD $7
Most applicants get their eTA approval by email within minutes. However, some requests take a few days to process, it is always best to get your eTA (or any visa) before you book a flight to Canada.
